The Air Jordan 1 Low Starfish features a smooth white leather upper with black Swooshes and sharp Starfish overlays, similar to the color uniform Michael Jordan wore when he famously broke the backboard in a 1985 exhibition game in Italy. A matching woven tongue label adds to the design’s retro appeal.
The Air Jordan 1 Low OG Starfish is an August 2021 release of Michael Jordan’s first signature shoe in low-top form that pays tribute to a now-classic colorway. The “Starfish,” despite its nickname, gives a nod toward the Air Jordan 1’s popular “Shattered Backboard,” specifically the “Reverse Shattered Backboard” Jordan 1 from 2016, with its black, white, and orange color scheme. Also, the Air Jordan 1 Low OG is a near one-to-one remake of the original version of the low-top basketball shoe from 1985. As for the “Starfish,” white leather appears on the perforated toe and mid-panel. Contrasting Starfish-colored leather is found on the overlaid panels. A black leather Swoosh appears on both sides. The placement of the black “Wings” logo on the heel is a true-to-original design element of the Air Jordan 1 Low OG. Black laces contrast the white nylon tongue and the Starfish tongue tag with white “Nike Air” branding.
